Kavita Shukla honoured for her invention

US Congressman Roscoe G. Bartlett met with inventor, Kavita Shukla of Ellicott City, Maryland. Kavita is a Davidson Fellow winner of a $10,000 scholarship for her second patented invention -- a food packaging filtration paper utilizing a traditional herb in India, fenugreek (Methi), as a safe and natural way to preserve fresh fruits and vegetables as well purify water. Kavita was inspired by her grand mother in Bhopal during one of her visits to India when the grandma gave her methi powder as a prevention against the polluted drinking water. When she returned to USA, Kavita was so impressed by her grandma's recipe that she did research on the anti-bacterial properties of methi and got the patent which may revolutionize the food packaging industry.
