The devastation has left children orphaned, scarred with the memories of tsunami, as seen in this painting.
In December 2006, former U.S. President Bill Clinton re-visited the Tsunami affected areas in Tamil Nadu. As an envoy of the United Nations, Clinton saw the recovery efforts being carried out in the region by the government, NGOs and private organizations and remarked "What has been done here, I would like to see copied throughout the world." He was fondly greeted by the local people.
